I agree with the solutions posted by Penelope Perkins
(perkins -at- SYNERGEX -dot- COM). Using "to" as a separator (rather than em dashes)
is the preferred method. It really doesn't take up a lot of space in the
index, and it definitely makes the index more usable.

Of course, you could probably find a lot of inadequate indexes to support
your current policy of not indicating page ranges; however, that rationale
would be flawed because it would be based on flawed research. If you don't
want to take my word for it, you can get more professional opinions if you
