<snipped a lot of useful information on getting a fix for Word97>

I recently got a new computer, and, because of all the problems reported on
this list, I had my computer pusher find me a copy of Office Pro 95. I've
been very happy with it. I recently had a chance to use Word 97 for the
first time, on a client's machine. I was particularly impressed by the
tendency to spontaneously reassign paragraph styles to amusing things like
"Endnote." (I noticed this because I keep the Style Area displayed at the
left side of the document space. Anybody else find that indispensible?) This
seemed to happen after I enabled Revision Tracking, and continued (somewhat
less) after I turned it off. I also found that, if I tried to select a block
of text that extended off screen, I had to hold the shift key and use the
down arrow, because if I used the mouse and went to the bottom of the screen
as I usually do, the screen scrolled so quickly that I selected about three
pages in the blink of an eye. That never happened before.

The more I learn about Unix (I'm installing Linux on the new pooter) the
less I like Windows and all of its applications. Did you know Unix/Linux is
apparently immune to viruses?
