I have extensive experience with both, and I prefer Illustrator by far. You
seem most interested in line art. I'm not sure if you mean you want to
create line art or just manipulate it. In general, and again this is my
experience, I find Illustrator to be much more precise and, at the same
time, free form. CorelDraw puts these blocky handles on everything, and
just doesn't seem to give me as much control over the art. For example, in
Illustrator there is a pen tool that is a work of art itself. You can place
points onto the image as you draw, and manipulate each one anyway you want.
