FYI: Autotext is under the "Insert" menu in Word 97.

My stab would be:

Select Autotext from the Tools menu; select Attention Line, click on
ATTN: . . .

or

From the Tool menu, select Autotext, select Attention Line, click on
ATTN: . . .
