TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL WRITING. Tenure-track assistant professor. Ph.D.
required in technical and/or professional writing by the starting date of
the position, August 1, 1999. Salary dependent upon qualifications. Two to
four years teaching experience is preferred. All candidates must have
expertise in visual rhetoric and print production with additional expertise
in several of these areas: on-line communication, hypertext, Web design and
development, collaborative computing, research methods, science writing,
publication management, internship programs (service learning in
professional settings), editing, design, multi-media production,
contemporary rhetorical theory, organizational communication, and some form
of methodology. Duties will include teaching first-year composition,
technical writing and Writing in the Workplace, as well as other
undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Writing and
Linguistics. Initial screening of selected applicants may occur at the
Modern Language Association Conference in San Francisco on December 27-30,
