Lessons to be learned:

Get it in writing. What if they won't put it in writing?
Alternative: Write a "letter of understanding" outlining your
formulation of the "addendum to contract" and add a line
at the bottom for "signature" ____________________
by your employer (agency). (PS They won't sign it)

If you must threaten remember these three rules:
1. Tell them what you want (more money)
2. Tell them when you want it (next check)
3. Tell them what will happen if you don't get it (you leave)
(PS You don't have to leave if they don't respond)
