What's it called?

Subject: What's it called?

Ok, guys...question:

A section of the document I'm working on is for the
Installation of a program. The audience is probably
novice, not PC-literate, and may never have installed
an application before. English is not their first
language for any of them.

Background: If a certain abnormal event occurs during
the installation, they need to run one of the
processes manually. Therefore, I have a paragraph:

----------
"Step 1: In the directory
C:\Program\<ApplicationName>, you will find a ???
named mdac_typ.exe. Run this ??? by clicking it once
to highlight it, then press the [Enter] key on your
keyboard.

Result: This will run the ???."
---------

My question...what do you call an .exe file that is
not the main executable.

Windows Explorer calls it an "Application". By it
being an .exe, it is a "Program". OTOH, it is really
just a "File".

Any takers?

Thanks
