The answer is simple: Don't IMPORT into Word -- EXPORT from Access:

1. Make an Access "report" with the content of the record you want to
export. (This is a standard procedure in MS Access.)

2. Click the "Office link" icon "Publish it with MS Word".

That will produce an RTF file which will open automatically in MS Word.
From Word you can then save it as a .doc file if that's what you want.
