did your first professional tech writing assignment? ]

10. Deadlines are negotiable.
9. Creativity and personal touches take a back seat
to uniformity and clarity.
8. You get more answers with chocolate than with
persistence.
7. Copy/Paste is your friend.
6. You cannot perform a comprehensive review of your
own writing - use an editor/peer.
5. Ctrl+S is your friend.
4. Never enter a land war in Asia.
3. Never mess with a project manager when profit is
on the line.
2. If you plan on working late, don't show up early
the next day wearing similar clothes as the day
before.
and the #1 thing I wish I'd known...
1. "Oh, I guess no one told you... the deadline's
been moved back three weeks to accommodate some
bug fixes, but thanks for getting the manuals done

early!"
