Barbara Hubert wondered <<Does anyone know of any URLs or (off-the-web)
studies about the impact of good documentation of tech support costs?>>

Technical Communication published a special issue on this very topic, and
it's an excellent resource. The issue appeared within the past 3 years, and
you should be able to find it on the Web site if they've posted the tables
of contents there. If not, drop me a line at work (geoff-h -at- mtl -dot- feric -dot- ca)
and I'll look it up for you. I'll be back in a day or two; I'm on vacation
until Tuesday.

"Most business books are written by consultants and professors who haven't
spent much time in a cubicle. That's like writing a firsthand account of
the Donner party based on the fact that you've eaten beef jerky."--Scott
Adams, The Dilbert Principle
