You don't mention CVS (Concurrent Versioning System, an open-source
package), and I've wondered for a while whether it would be any good at
version control for docs. It seems to have a lot of advantages (besides
being open-source), such as having clients on a huge number of platforms
<http://cvshome.org/dev/codes.html> and servers on almost as many.
Cross-platform support always turns out to be useful for any tool, when
it's available, even if it isn't an up-front requirement.

So, if anyone has experience with CVS to control docs, please post on
that as well...

Thanks,
----->Mike
