Hello all,

First, I want to thank those of you who replied to my
anonymous posting for your thoughtful responses. Your
online and offline comments helped me gain insight
into this dilemma, and that's what I was after. I love
this list(<;

To summarize the responses:

Many of you sympathized and agreed the styles I
mentioned are unusual. You pointed me to The Chicago
Manual of Style and the Microsoft Manual of Style for
guidelines on proper usage. Good recommendations all.

One individual recommended approaching the discussion
from a readability standpoint, rather than a style
standpoint--a very good suggestion, since my group
doesn't seem to respect the established style guides.

Some respondents had heard of or used the styles, and
wrote they're not wrong, just a matter of preference.

Others suggested I was right, but nit picking, and
offered the following advice:

"Don't get your knickers in a twist."
"It pays to let such small things go."

and my personal favorite,

"fuggedaboutit"

I've decided to let these things go, and write to
avoid such constructions as:

Use the following procedure.
<procedure>

A description of the procedure follows:
<description>

And I guess I won't die if I have to capitalize words
in titles based solely on the number of letters they
contain.

Once again, thank you all. Rock on!

anon
