That depends, of course. ;-) Is there a particular area he'd like to
work in? If so, I'd minor or major in that area. If he's going to be a
generalist, tool knowledge will be just as helpful as technical
knowledge when it comes to finding a job, IMHO, as long as he has the
ability to learn his subject matter once he gets that job.
