Many thanks to all who responded, off and on-list.

I actually combined the advice from keith cronin and geoff hart, and the sentence is now, "In the Default tab, specify the default attributes of entries created by interface (see page 106)."

It just goes to show you, there are no stupid questions (which is what I thought as I pressed "send," but I was too tired to care... really, I should never take the bus to work...)That sentence was bugging me, and I couldn't think of a better way to write it.
