He is using the Word Document Map to help his readers navigate. He is using
Word98 on the Macintosh if that matters. The Document Map seems to
automatically include Heading1-9 PLUS any paragraphs with an outline level.
The problem is, Word "thinks" all his figure captions (styled as "Caption")
should have outline levels and be included in the Document Map. But he
doesn't want them in.

Has he checked the default outline level that is
assigned to the Caption style?

With the cursor placed in any Caption paragraph,
navigate through
Format menu > Style > Modify > Format > Paragraph
and make sure the Outline level is "Body text".
Then Find each Caption paragraph and reassign the
correct style.
