Loads of good suggestions so far. Another place to
consider aggravation is non-work activities. Think
about what you do OTHER than write that can contribute
or prevent you from healing. Kayaking is what did in
my wrists. The feathered blades (90 degrees to each
other) forced one wrist to turn with each stroke.
Switch to un-feathered, more power anyway. Bicycling,
gymnastics, rowing, or anything that uses hands with
strength can also be a contributor. Be conscious of how you use your hands, and what it might be doing to
your ability to work.

About the same time as wrist problems came back, I had
tennis elbow, and a partially separated shoulder from
soccer! Couldn't use my right arm for a couple of
months. Talk about reduction in productivity, yikes.
Fortunately?, they were all on the same arm, so I was
forced to left mouse & single hand keyboard.

I hesitate to suggest medicine, but long term doses of
ibuprofen (check with Dr.) reduces the inflamation
to the point that the body can heal. Adjacent muscles
contract in sympathy and relieving that swelling
can allow the actual damage to heal, otherwise the
constant contractions prevent healing I'm not a
doctor, don't protray one in real life or on TV, but
this medicine worked wonders for me and my various
