For those not on digest mode, I can report that the digest of Monday's posts
received by me Tuesday morning contains 71 messages. I think it would be a
stream-of-consciousness challenge for me to try to just jump in in the
middle of this stuff (I'm glad others do, of course) and I rather usually
read two or three same-topic posts before posting my day-late ideas. So,
this is sort of lurking by default or by definition or something.

In addition, there are entire days (and it sometimes seems like entire
weeks) where the tenor of the posts is "me, me, me" rather than "the
customer, stupid," and I tend to avoid these discussions. That is, I'm more
interested in discussing how to better serve customers than discussing such
things as resumes, bidding jobs, personal taxes, the economy, etc. I can't
really think, however, of any valid suggestions as to why this stuff
shouldn't be here--so I'm not complaining--but it just doesn't interest me
and causes "lurking" periods for me. I almost lurked through the entire
lurking thread beccause of this view! (After a while, the work "lurk" seems
like one of the dumber-sounding words in the English language--"lark" is
much better!)
