Keith Cronin stated: "However, a couple of posters either missed or
ignored the humorous tone of his post, and launched in earnest into a
what-fonts-mean-to-me diatribe. And the self-trolling thread grew from
there...""

No disrespect to you Keith--you've been supportive to me in the past--but
this is a perfect example of why I lurk more than respond (aside from my
paranoia that people delete my posts without reading them--but hey, that's
my problem). People took the font discussion seriously because it was
something that interested them and they enjoyed discussing it, so whether
Andrew's original post was meant merely as a humorous aside doesn't really
matter, does it? It seems that many interesting discussions grow on this
list (at least, interesting to me) from sometimes inconsequential remarks.
What may be one person's field of interest may bore the heck out of
others, but if it isn't a flame war, why move on if the topic is still
viable? Maybe this one no longer is, but the more frequent or vocal
posters to the list don't need to denigrate (a diatribe?--it didn't seem
that way to me) a topic that is of interest to others on the list.

A URL for a font discussion list was given a day or two ago; the
discussion of fonts may rightly belong there. However, the issue of design
with regard to technical documents seems (IMHO)to belong here.

>>Keith

>>Eric

<< But to everyone's credit I think you all foiled Andrew's manipulation by providing some insightful discussion and helpful resources.
The reason that Andrew's bait was accepted is that like it or not,
document
design does have it's place.

These comments were appreciated--I'm sure we all hate feeling like we've
been manipulated. (Again, maybe it's me...)
