Charles E Vermette says he "knows fonts" but he doesn't
"think they have much bearing on tech writing."

On "writing" in the narrow sense, probably not. But many
writers in business and technology need to design as well
as write. Not knowing the basics of typographic design and
usage is a severe handicap.

Confusing "font selection" with good publication design is a
common error. The evidence of it is everywhere.
