Ummmm, at the risk of sounding like a departed
member of the list....

Frankly, this "writer-centric" view of business
always confounds me. Companies are in business to
make money, not to pay writer's salaries. If they
don't have a product, they go out of business.

Seems pretty simple to me - it's more important
to have someone create the product than document
it. In fact, if no one creates it, how can it be
documented? Few companies are in business to sell
(only) the docs.
