I would appreciate any advice techwhirlers can provide about job hunting
in Canada. I'm especially interested in tips on developing leads and
enhancing my appeal to Canadian employers. I'd also appreciate advice on
recruiters (whether or not to use them, which ones are good and which are
bad, and how to manage them).

Which part of Canada are you moving to? Don't let the smaller population mislead you: The job market is different in Montreal and Vancouver, just as it is in New York and San Francisco. It's a matter of distance rather than of size.

If you're moving to Vancouver, let me know - I'll be glad to make some suggestions. But if you're moving anywhere else in Canada, very little of what I could tell you would be relevant.
