Re: Frame 6 crashes when importing file
I've exhausted all the free support options, trying to find an answer to
this. Maybe one of you has been through it. Every time I try to import a
file (a screen capture into a manual), the program suddenly crashes. Poof --
FrameMaker is gone.
It's Frame 6 for Windows. I'm running Windows 2000.
How I did it: I used File > Import > File (select import by ref, and select
filename) > OK -- then crash.
How big is your document?
How big is the new graphic?
How much RAM do you have?
(Yes, I know that importing by reference doesn't permanently add megs to the doc. But, in order to display on the screen, your RAM has to be able to handle it. I lost a critical document when she added a logo to a footer in a graphics-heavy 200p Frame 5.5.6 doc on a Windows98/NT4 machine with only 64 MB RAM. Two weeks later, after endless emails and expensive phone calls to Adobe tech support, I got enough ammunition to justify the comparatively teeny cost of 256 MB.)
