Last week I was teaching RoboHELP. I know the
software fairly well for designing online help and
teaching the basics? I have two questions though...

My student is a translator. She is going to be using
it just to translate and edit text; not to create
documents. I did show her how to create simple help
documents and topics so she could see how the software
works. Then I spent the rest of the time showing her
what is important to know when working with a document
that has already been created (formatting, styles,
topic properties, indexes, table of contents,
hyperlinks, etc.)

1) She will be using a language localization tool
called Multilizer. Does anyone know how she would
integrate this into RoboHELP?

2) I am used to making documents from scratch. I
have done some translation and revision in RoboHELP,
but didn't think twice about having to go into Topic
Properties, manually changing any hyperlinks
(hotspots, jumps, etc.) as well as manually changing
the table of contents and index in addition to typing
over the text. I know FrameMaker quite well, and find
the same thing (having to manually change the index
markers, etc.).

Is there a way of simply typing over a heading (new
topic) and having the changes be automatically made in
the topic properties, etc. without having to
"retranslate" it in the different areas (topic
properties, index, table of contents, etc.)?

The index and table of contents do regenerate to a
point, but you still have to manually change the
properties.

My student had said there has got to be an easier way,
because the translator before her did it all the time
and didn't seem to complain about the extra time
involved. However, this translator has become very
possessive of her knowledge and refuses to help my
student.

Perhaps there is a macro that can be created to do
this?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Cheers,

Traci
