Being of a somewhat simplistic (read lazy) frame of mind and, since I
often transfer documents in and out of Word, I never use Normal. Heck,
I stay about as far from normal as I possibly can in all things.

What I do, if you're interested, is set up my style sheets with two
styles that I never use directly, ~bodybase and ~headingbase. These
hold the basic settings for all the other styles in that sheet. So all
body/list text is based on ~bodybase. By changing that one style, I
can modify most of the characteristics of the dependent styles, or at
least see where they need to be fixed.

This lets me modify derivative style sheets with a minimum of font
fondling. The habit of font fondling, as Andrew will be eager to tell
you, is anathema.
