Perhaps not relevant for Simon, but the listings package gives
LaTeX users language-aware syntax highlighting, amongst
other effects... I don't use it myself but my understanding is
that you don't need to go mad with the colours like many
text editors do - for example, a light grey colour for comments,
bold for commands / methods / functions, and normal for
other elements would look quite reasonable...
