Re: Giving a Document **One Voice**I take the position that the one voice is going to be mine. Not my sometimes wry, sometimes deeply thoughtful, sometimes sarcastic or sardonic, sometimes long-convoluted-sentence mailing list voice but my clear-expository-writing voice, the one that channels Strunk & White and my high school English teacher. John, Beth and Dick hit the head on the nail..... If this document is to have "one voice," then you can't worry about all the other "voices" used to create it in the first place. Whenever I attack a project like this, I lay in a big supply of post-it notes and use them liberally as I make the first pass (assuming you have time for a read through). However, as you sit in front of the fireplace and follow the advice of the aforementioned (great word), remember that you also need to enjoy life. Large projects always go better with a good bottle of wine (or a 12 pack of fine micro brew at arm's length, or a shot of two of Patron tequila). So, grab your red pen(s), turn down the stereo and enjoy a wonderful fulfilled weekend...taking time out of course for the Super Bowl. -- Al Geist, Geist Associates Technical Writing, Online Help, Marketing Collateral, Web Design, Award Winning Videos, Professional Photography Office: 802-658-3140 Cell: 505-400-4128 E-mail: al -dot- geist -at- geistassociates -dot- com <mailto:al -dot- geist -at- geistassociates -dot- com> URL: www.geistassociates.com <http://www.geistassociates.com> (online portfolio/resume) See also: URL: www.geistimages.com <http://www.geistimages.com> (fine art prints for home or office and note cards for all occasions) "When the situation is absolutely hopeless, you have nothing to worry about."
