If the hiring manager is a tech pubs manager with past writer experience,
there's no excuse. However, a lot of the tech pubs job descriptions
I've seen (including my own) were created by marketing, engineering
or operations managers who often had no idea what the requirements
for a tech writer might be.

My question is this: Why do hiring managers have such vague
requirements when they need jobs filled? I've seen so many nonsensical
job descriptions out there that I wonder if the purpose is to drive
people *away* from applying.
