I came into my present job on a six-month-to-hire. They were a month late with the transition, for which I tactfully and carefully (and successfully) pushed. The new agreement is "at will", with full permanent status and benefits as a salaried (exempt from labor laws) employee. They offered about half of the dollar increase that I had hoped for, and I accepted.
At the first of the year with "meets 3, exceeds 7" on the objectives, I got the same across-the-board 3% increase enjoyed by all the other employees. Too bad for us that the cost of gas takes local inflation above 11%. The actual payment came through in March (my actual one-year anniversary). They were also bought and released the entire accounting department.
I don't expect any notice to be taken of my official one-year anniversary. Maybe something will happen at the end of the year, maybe not.
If I was in it just for the money, I wouldn't be in it. Just goes to prove -- get it at the beginning or don't expect it.
