I've obtained the right job by slipping into another one that I could do
and putting in the time and effort to show what I _really_ could do once
I was there with access to the right person.

I courted my current company for two years at job fairs and with resume
submissions, all neatly deflected by the HR Department. Finally I
slipped through when they advertised for a Quality Control Coordinator
and I scored an interview even though I knew I didn't have the right
background for that job. The QC Supervisor and Plant Manager were quick
to agree that a whole bunch of their QC problems would go away if they
had a document control system and somebody who knew how to manage it,
and they had the authority to create that job.

Life is short and ethical companies (and managers) are good to find. It
isn't all perfect (surprise!), but mostly I'm very glad to be here.
