My review team has Reader only (no need to purchase Acrobat for everyone)
and they are able to add comments (but have struggled with the
counter-intuitive "features"). They were used to using the email review
feature and liked it, but are more excited about being able to see each
others' comments.

I tried the method of using a network drive first, then I had one of our IT
guys set up a WebDAV enabled server. Then I found out that it wasn't going
to work the way I thought it would - with users having only Reader on their
computers.

I had been doing email reviews and we all love that, but when there is a
team involved, there is tremendous benefit in being able to see everyone
else's comments.

If Acrobat 9 will do this (I am currently using 7), we will rush out and
buy it. We're not about to purchase Acrobat for everyone though - this
whole thing depends on our users having Reader only.

We are in the middle of a test of Acrobat 9's "shared review" feature
(the
PDF is on a network drive, not strictly a Web-based review). I have to
second Paul Nagai's comments about counter-intuitive behaviors, and that
is
compounded by lack of big-picture help topics. Our reviewers lost some
comments and had to re-enter them, which erodes confidence in the system.
That said, they still like the idea of being able to see and respond to
each others' comments (now that we know how to make sure comments are
saved).

This test is with a group of software developers; the next one we do will
be with hardware developers and we're interested to see if the reactions
differ.

Hope this helps,
Beverly
