I don't recall having to delete all of those before converting a DOC
file to FrameMaker 7.0. When was the last time you used FrameMaker?

Often, I would convert an original ODT file from OpenOffice to DOC and
afterwards imported/converted into FrameMaker and having most of the
original formatting from OpenOffice retained.
