While augmented reality or 3D hologram projection might be a ways off
from practical widespread use, you can bet that the race for
glasses-free 3D technology is on. As I've posted before, Nintendo has
figured out a way to at least well-fake 3D on a flat screen using 3D
field depth rendering (on sale Friday). Given the hype around 3D
HDTVs, it's only a matter of time before more manufacturers of
handhelds and perhaps large screens start adopting and improving on
this technology.
