I agree and would add that, as an employee, pay gaps are generally none of my business. What is my business is that I ensure that I am being paid what my work is worth in the market I am in.

I would think that pay gaps and relative numbers of years of experience are probably not the biggest morale issues in a group with a mediocre manager.
