I spent two years at a broadcasting school, then worked at several Northern
Lower Michigan radio stations. I've gone through Dale Carnegie training,
have been my the talent for radio and TV ads promoting my former business,
and have since recorded software demos:

Here are two articles I wrote on LinkedIn:

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/software-demo-videos-so-you-want-producer-pt-1-chris-morton/

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/software-demo-videos-so-you-want-producer-pt-2-chris-morton/

Especially noticeable in women, vocal fry (https://youtu.be/Ff1JByylQU0)
drives me nuts. And while I like this recording a client did for me (
https://youtu.be/gnkJswJr1SI), notice the upspeak at the end of most every
sentence.

For my client's recording, he also spoke so rapidly (and with background
echo) that he wasn't very clear upon playback. I used Audacity to first
remove all pausesâto tighten up the recording. I then used it to slow his
speech by 15%âwithout affecting his tonal pitch. That saved the day, as I
didn't want to pester him to rerecord it.

Another tip: recording while standing up opens up your diaphragm and
provides a better sound. It can also cause you to sound more energetic. I
use this tip every time I'm being interviewed on the phone by a prospective
client.
