WASHINGTON (Reuter) - Thailand has asked to buy 180 U.S.
M-60A3 tanks and associated military equipment for $127 million,
the Pentagon said Monday.
Congress is expected to approve the proposed sale, which
would include heat-seeking sights for the tanks, 6,000 rounds of
105mm ammunition, M-240 machine guns and night vision goggles.
The tanks would come from U.S. Army stocks, the Defense
Department said.
The sale would help the Southeast Asian nation upgrade its
military armor, which currently includes 53 M-60A1 and 75 M-48A5
tanks from the United States.
