Gwen Barnes suggests that many cover letters are ghostwritten. Rick
rightfully points out that if a tech writer can't write a cover letter you
might reconsider writing as a career.

In my experience, the few cover letters I've seen that were ghostwritten
were produced by tech writers--for a fee--for other job applicants.
