we should add a few facts:
- Standards appear to be ridiculously expensive (several dollars a page).
But the standards bodies like ANSI or ISO have LOTS of expenses despite
the fact that most of the specialists creating the standards work for
free (supported by their employers or so).
- Quite often you should NOT buy the standards by themselves, e.g.
ISO 9000 ff or ISO 8879 (SGML). These are basic frameworks from
specialists for specialists and of absolutely no use for the newcomer.
You should prefer seminars, text books and other sources of information
aimed to your group and updated. E.g. a three-year old ISO 9000 book
might be interesting to get started, but will not help you in getting
your company certified.
Greetings from Germany,
PS: Best wishes from here!
