My usage of the Internet:
1. Discussion lists/newsgroups -- TECHWR-L, WPWIN-L (Wordperfect for Windows),
various personal interest discussion lists, WWW-L (online course development
discussion
list), OS2-L and OS2USERS discussion lists (OS of my choice. It's nice to
have a choice!).
2. Information/tutorials/style guides/etc on Web publishing and HTML, since I'm
learning that
right now.
3. Technical support, device drivers, program patches/updates, conversion
libraries, utility
programs, etc., from various publishers' sites.
4. Stress relief -- Dilbert Page, Spam Haiku Archives, The Random Light Bulb
Joke Page.
5. Research for my MSIS (studying the impact of ethical practices on the
success or failure of
IS projects).
6. Obtain typefaces, graphics, etc., needed for documentation design work.
7. Email correspondence with interesting people (like Techwhirlers!)
8. Occasionally getting up on an electronic soapbox and spouting off for a
while (used to visit
Berkeley, California, frequently <G>). Or maybe this item belongs under
stress relief?

Not into:
1. IRC, MUDs, or other online games.
2. Using the Internet as a cheap long distance phone/video service.
3. Browsing catalogs and buying things at electronic malls.
4. Telnet.

Does that cover some of the spectrum? Any other ideas, people?

>>I'm interested in finding out the ways writers (especially technical writers)
are using the Internet. I see references on this list for other listservs from
time to time, but little else.
Just how does everyone make use of some of the other services (WWW, usenet,
telnet, etc.)<<<
