This list has a cople of thousand members, so Eric is quite correct in
working to keep discussions tightly focussed on issues directly
related to technical writing-specific topics.

There are other places where discussion might be better placed: The
copy-ed list has a slightly rambling, friendly atmosphere, where
discussions ranges over a very wide range of topics. I'm not a member,
because the traffic is too high -- I just don't have time to keep up
with it.

For subjects of interest to technical writing, but too off-subject for
here, the TechComm list is the place to go. It is specifically a
discussion forum for technical communicators. Because it is a smaller
list (a bit over 300 members) there is less need to be restrictive
about what can be allowed. For example, the subjects recently rued out
here are welcome there.

The Techcomm list is a bit quiet at present -- discussions there are
actively welcomed.

To join Techcomm, send the command (without the quotes)

'join techcomm'

as the body of a message to
