"Web" is an abbreviation for "World Wide Web" (WWW). It isn't an
acronym.

References to the Web are commonly understood to mean the WWW (though
it's probably good practice to spell out "World Wide Web" at first
mention anyway). Capitalizing it distinguishes it from other kinds of
webs - spiderwebs, webs of intrigue, Tholian webs, etc.

>Also, since I'm asking, is it necessary to always initial cap Internet?

By convention, a capitalized Internet refers to the global computer
network. But a small-i "internet" can also refer to any two or more
computer networks interconnected using the TCP/IP protocol. Like Web,
capitalizing distinguises the Internet from other kinds of internets.

Take care,

Scott
