My undergrad degree is in management. At the college that I attended, all
business major were required to take the intro tech writing course. The
class was also made up of students majoring in math, physics, psychology,
social work, public administration, etc. (This may be the case at other
universities as well.)

So I agree with Bill--topics such as writing an effective procedure,
learning how to find info, and writing for a specific audience should be the
proverbial meat of the class.
