The graphics you find on the Web through altavista or google are not free. They belong to someone and are generally protected by explicit copyright statements. The fact that you are able to copy them without paying for them is an artifact of the http protocol, not a result of any licensing agreement.

On the other hand, there are lots of clip art resources, some that are cheap, as with the CDs Richard mentions, others that are free, made available on clip art Web sites. You can also try the news group alt.binaries.clip-art , although a lot of what is available there is "liberated" copyright material, so you're on shakier ground.

What I have done in the past is a search in altavista, you can do a graphic
(using the tabs) search, you have to look through lots of them to find what
you are looking for but usually I find it.

The other thing is most computer shops sell CD's of graphics for say $20 you
can buy a CD with 10,000 images on it. You should be able to find them
online too at somewhere like amazon, download.com or cnet

Hope this helps
