I'd take it. If you're bored and unsatisfied at the current job, and interested in the tech and the people at the retooled company, and they have customers, why not? You've already made up your mind to take it anyway, you just need someone else to justify it for you. :)

Suggestions:

- Negotiate a severance as part of your employment contract (i know someone who was guaranteed 6 months' salary after leaving the company FOR WHATEVER REASON - layoff, quit, fired, etc - but she was Management and it was part of a clause saying she'd not work for a competitor for that long after leaving)

- If you're worried they might go under and not have any $$ to fulfill the severance part of your contract, get the total amount as a signing bonus up front, splurge $100 on something for yourself, then DON'T SPEND THE REST

- Set up an automatic transfer at your bank so every month/paycheck a certain amount of $$ goes into a Layoff Fund - if you're making more $$ at the new job than the current job, skim 50 - 75% of the increased pay and stick it into the fund until you have three months' worth of living expenses saved.

- Keep networking, subscribing to job postings, etc so you know who's hiring and what for (this is a good idea all the time, not just in a job that might end sooner than you hoped)

Congratulations!

Regina
