Thanks, Geoff. At least I know I'm not alone! The problem is, we've already
booked the room, sent the flyers and even received payment from attendees. I
don't think I can change the date. But, I'll keep it in mind!

I feel your pain... as chapter president, one of my nightmares is a
last-minute speaker cancellation. Here's one thought: it's not precisely
what you're looking for, but how about substituting one of STC's telephone
conferences? For example:

Saul Carliner (a wonderful speaker and well known in the community) will be
presenting on Nov. 5th about establishing a baseline for performance. That
might give you a starting point for a discussion of how to develop
performance improvements.
