The only thing is, how profitable is that support system? Both RoboHelp's previous owner and Macromedia tried hard to get people to buy support contracts, yet both were taken over.

While there may not be a connection between these facts, I suspect there is. I can't think of any company I'm worked with that has paid for support contracts for RoboHelp or Flash MX.
