I'm less sure that Baker was recommending a change in our job title so much as he was using different words to describe what we do. Not that it matters: technical writer, technical communicator, content engineer: when we meet someone new and get the question "What do you do for work?" all three of those (and just about any other term we can come up with) seems to get us puzzled looks.

I don't care what the name of the job is, I know what we do.
