Given the 6th grade level (is this modern 6th grade or 6th grade per
readability studies?) I'd say "regular telephone" or "traditional
telephone" might be best.

This reminds me of one of the Braggart games on I'm Sorry I Haven't A
Clue where the comedians took turns bragging about their new cell

"My phone is hand-free, where you don't have to have any hands at all."
"My phone rings a person and brings them directly to me."
"Funny you should say that, because mine sends them away very quickly."
"My new phone actually plugs into my house!"
